Lip Blush
Tattooing
Lip Blush is a luxurious semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo treatment designed to enhance your natural lip colour, shape, and definition — while preserving a soft, natural appearance. Using advanced micropigmentation techniques and carefully selected pigments, the treatment creates a beautifully diffused, watercolour effect that mimics the look of a subtle tint or sheer lip stain rather than heavy lipstick.
This treatment restores balance and symmetry to the lips, defines faded borders, and brightens dull or uneven tones — giving you the perfect “your lips but better” finish from the moment you wake up. Ideal for those with naturally pale, cool-toned, or uneven lips, Lip Blush revives your overall complexion and creates a youthful, healthy glow. Each treatment is completely bespoke, designed to complement your unique skin tone, facial structure, and aesthetic preferences. During your consultation, your artist will carefully assess your undertones, desired intensity, and lip anatomy to craft a look that flatters your features — whether you prefer a barely-there wash of colour, a rosier flush, or a more defined, lipstick-inspired effect.
Unlike traditional cosmetic tattooing, Lip Blush focuses on creating a seamless gradient that blends softly into the natural lip line, avoiding any harsh outlines. The result is smooth, even colour that enhances volume and dimension without fillers.
The Result: Lips that appear naturally flushed, fuller, and perfectly defined — with a radiant tone that lasts for years and reduces your need for daily makeup. You’ll wake up every day with fresh, glowing lips that feel effortlessly polished and balanced.

What Lip Blush Can Do
Who Can't Get Lip Blush?
Medical Conditions
-
Pregnancy or breastfeeding – treatment should be postponed until after this period due to hormonal changes, increased sensitivity, and limited research on pigment safety.
-
Uncontrolled diabetes – poor circulation and delayed healing may increase the risk of infection or uneven pigment retention.
-
Blood disorders or use of anticoagulant medications (e.g., warfarin, aspirin, ibuprofen) – higher likelihood of bleeding, bruising, and pigment loss during healing.
-
Autoimmune diseases or compromised immunity – the skin may heal unpredictably or react adversely to pigment.
-
Active cancer or recent chemotherapy/radiation therapy – reduced healing ability and increased infection risk.
-
Epilepsy – flashing lights or sudden discomfort during treatment may trigger a seizure.
-
Severe heart conditions – medical clearance is required before undergoing cosmetic tattooing.
Skin Conditions & Recent Treatments
-
Active cold sores, infections, or open wounds on or around the lips – treatment must be delayed until fully healed.
-
History of keloid or hypertrophic scarring – increased risk of abnormal healing or texture changes.
-
Very thin, damaged, or inflamed skin (e.g., from long-term steroid use or over-exfoliation). The skin barrier may not tolerate tattooing safely.
-
Sunburn or recent tanning – increases the risk of irritation, inflammation, or pigment alteration.
-
Recent cosmetic treatments (fillers, microneedling, chemical peels, laser, or dermaplaning) – the skin requires a minimum of 4 weeks to heal before tattooing.
-
Use of isotretinoin (Accutane) within the past 6–12 months. This significantly impairs wound healing and increases the risk of pigment migration or scarring.
Other Considerations
-
History of frequent cold sores (HSV-1) – antiviral medication should be taken prior to treatment to prevent outbreaks.
-
For allergies to pigments, lidocaine, or topical anaesthetics, a patch test is recommended before proceeding.
-
Metal implants or pacemakers – while uncommon, should be discussed with your technician prior to treatment.
-
Unrealistic expectations – Lip Blush enhances and defines your natural lips, but does not alter shape or volume like dermal fillers.

Consultation
Every Lip Blush journey begins with a personalised consultation designed to understand your goals and preferences. Together, we’ll discuss your desired colour intensity, undertone, and overall look. Whether that’s a sheer “just-bitten” flush or a more defined lipstick-style finish.
Your artist will assess your natural lip tone, shape, and symmetry, then recommend a custom pigment blend that enhances your complexion and harmonises with your features. Pre-treatment photos may be taken to help track your transformation, and any medical or skin-related concerns will be discussed to ensure the safest, most natural result possible.
Treatment Day
Your appointment begins with cleansing and prepping the lips to ensure a clean, smooth surface. Using a white mapping pencil and concealer, your artist will carefully outline and perfect the lip shape, adjusting symmetry and definition to complement your natural features. Once the desired shape is achieved, the area is lightly powdered to help set the outline and prevent smudging during the procedure.
The lip outline is then tattooed first, following the mapped guide to establish a precise and balanced frame. This step ensures the final result maintains beautiful symmetry and a clean contour.
Once the outline is complete, a topical numbing cream is applied and allowed to sit for approximately 10 minutes to provide maximum comfort. After the numbing has taken effect, the shading process begins. Using a gentle, layered technique, pigment is softly blended throughout the lips to achieve a smooth gradient and a natural “watercolour” finish.
Throughout the procedure, your comfort and safety are prioritised. The process typically takes around 2–3 hours, depending on your lip condition, pigment selection, and desired colour intensity.
Healing Process
Immediately after your appointment, your lips may appear slightly darker and more defined — this is normal and will gradually soften as they heal. Mild swelling is expected for the first 12–24 hours, and tenderness may last a few days.
Over the following week, your lips will begin to peel and exfoliate, revealing the softer healed colour underneath. It’s important not to pick or peel the flaking skin, as this can cause uneven healing or pigment loss.
An aftercare balm will be provided, which should be applied every few hours to keep your lips hydrated and protected. During this period, avoid makeup, spicy foods, saunas, and excessive sun exposure.
The full colour will develop and “blossom” over the next 6–8 weeks, settling into a beautiful, natural hue that complements your skin tone.
Touch-Up Session
A perfecting session is recommended 6–8 weeks after your initial treatment. This appointment allows the artist to refine the shape, adjust pigment intensity, and ensure colour retention is even across the lips.
Most clients enjoy their results for 2–3 years, depending on factors such as skin type, sun exposure, and lifestyle. Over time, the pigment will fade gradually, allowing for subtle updates as your natural colouring and preferences evolve.
For the best long-term maintenance, a colour refresh is typically suggested every 12–18 months to keep your lips looking radiant, defined, and naturally enhanced.
